Critten Compromise
Final attempt at compromise to avoid secession proposed by John Critten and it was a constitutional amendment to reinstate Missouri compromise line with funds to reimburse slaveowners for runaway slaves
Fort Sumter
Important fort in Charleston South Carolina
January 1861- Buchanan (pre Lincoln prez) tries to send supplies however the Confederates fire.
- Lincoln tries to send supplies with no guns but the south is suspicious and orders a surrender of the fort by the union however the union refuses and is attacked Starting the Civil War
