Wellness: an active state, oriented toward maximizing the potential of the individual
Illness: the unique response of a person to a disease
Acute illness
Generally has a rapid onset of symptoms and lasts only a relatively short time
Chronic illness
A broad term that encompasses many different physical and mental alterations haveing one or more of the following.
- Its a permanent change.
- it causes or is caused by irreversable changes to anatomy or physiology
- it requires special patient education for rehabilitation
