Define termination
Where the working relationship ends due to the employee leaving the business either voluntarily or involuntarily. This can determine the corporate culture of the business.
What are the types of termination?

resignation
retirement
-Involuntary
redundancy
dismissal
Define resignation
is where the employee decides to leave the business.
Can be caused by job dissatisfaction or moving houses.
Define retirement
is where an employee leaves the business with the plan to no longer be apart of the work force. This is a major change for an individual and should be addressed as so by the business.
Define redundancy
This is where the employees job no longer exists and the people who held those jobs are retrenched. This can be from poor financial performance.
Define dismissal
Is when an employee is forced to leave the business due to poor performance or serious breach of conduct. Can be in the form of summary dismissal.
Define summary dismissal
Where an employer can dismiss an employee without any notice when they had a serious breach of conduct.
Eg- Theft
Define on notice dismissal
Where an employer dismisses an employee after given warning of their performance. The employee is given time to improve but if they don’t they will be dismissed.
Define unfair dismissal
When an employee is dismissed for a harsh or unreasonable manner. They are decided upon by the fair works commission.
Define voluntary termination
When the employee decides to leave the business.
Define involuntary termination
Where the business decides to terminate an employee
