what are the steps for decompressing a TPT?
A
- locate second intercostal space (below second and above 3rd rib)
- mid clavicular line
- insert 14g cannula at right angle to chest
- check for air to escape

what is a TPT/PT?
A
the progressive build up of air in the pleural space which causes uncoupling of the lung from the chest wall. tensioning is when the pressures a so high it causes serious physiological distress.
