What are the clinical signs of Meningococcal Disease?

A

signs of sepsis: 2 or more of temp lower than 36C or higher than 38C, HR higher than 90, RR higher than 20, BP lower than 90.

  • typical purpuric rash
  • flu-like symptoms
  • meningeal symptoms

what is the management for Meningococcal Disease?

A
  • make sure chest is clear- provide 20ml/kg of NS over 30 mins.
  • IV ceftriaxone 1g IV dilute with 10ml water for injection. admin over 2 mins
  • IM IG dilute with 3.5ml of 1% lignocaine to make 4ml
