What is Autonomic Dysreflexia?
A
uncontrolled sympathetic reflex in patients with pre-existing spinal cord injury of T6 or above.

what causes Autonomic Dysreflexia?
A
external or visceral stimulus below the lesion causing parasympathetic/sympathetic imbalances.

what are the clinical signs of Autonomic Dysreflexia?
A
- increased BP (160)
- severe headache

What is the management for Autonomic Dysreflexia?
A
- identify possible cause (kinked catheter, injuries, burns)
- GTN 600mcg or 300mcg no prev.
- repeat 10/60 until symtoms resolve or bp come below 160.
