A
- Risk for dependency and abuse
- Safety re: dizziness/ sedation/ medication regimen
- Constipation prevention
- Avoid alcohol/ CNS depressants

A
- Promptly report HR, BP, and heart sxs.
- Educate patient on reactions with ergot-containing drugs
- Educate normal s/s

- Do not cut/ crush d/t enteric coating
- Report tinnitus
- Report s/s of GI bleeding
- Avoid alcohol
- Potential herbal interactions
- Interactions with BP medications

- Do not take longer than 10 days
- Teach s/s of GI bleeding

A
- Do not take longer than 5 days/ risks of taking longer than 5 days

What would you teach a patient taking a non-narcotic analgesic?
A
- Take w/ full glass of water for liver
- Do not take w/ other acetaminophen medications
- No more than 4000 mg/day for low-risk adult
- No more than 3000 mg/day for geriatric
- No more than 2000 mg/day for chronic alcoholism
- Avoid alcohol when taking
