- Plan insulin administration around meals knowing onset, peak, and duration
- High-risk drug: follow policy with second nurse check

- Hold if receiving IV iodinated contrast dye (48 hours before and after)
- Assess for hepatic/ renal disease or metabolic acidosis (contraindicated)

- Monitor TSH, T3, T4, & cardiac rhythm
- Monitor for hyperthyroidism
- Monitor/assess for adrenal insufficiency
- Hold if cardiac sxs develop/worsen. Hold x 1week if this occurs & then start back with lower dose.
