What are precipitating factors and how do they influence someone’s behaviour?
Precipitating factors are external causes of a behaviour that you and other staff have little to no control over.
They can influence. someone’s behaviour in many ways. Someone may have just experienced some form of loss, therefore they become more frustrated and can lash out. They could also be used to being in a position of power and are less willing to listen to requests or commands as a result.

Professional empathy is the ability to put imagine yourself on equal footing with someone and develop an understanding of the situation they’re in and the feelings they might have.
