Describe the proper grips used for a baton.
Interview stance - Baton is kept in line and behind your leg on the side you hold the baton. Maintain athletic stance with opposite hand raised to engage a threat.
Ready stance - Baton is held in dominant hand above the shoulder, parallel to the ground. Athletic stance with hands in front of head/face to defend and engage threat. Point butt of baton at subject so they have a hard time gauging length.

Identify the three motor points in the legs that you should use as targets when striking with a baton.

What does standard maintenance look like for your baton? There are four things you should do.
-Keep your baton dry
-Check the tip and cap
-Check the grip
-Check for fractures

What subject categories might it be acceptable to use a baton on?
Assaultive or GBH/Death.
An officer should use a baton if they don’t think empty hand control will be sufficient to establish control.
