What could they possibly have?
Left Medial Medullary Syndrome
Affected: Corticospinal tract (Contralateral), DCML (Contralateral), Hypoglossal (Same side)
(blockage of anterior spinal artery)
Pt can only move eyes up and down, paralysis everywhere else, what is the possible diagnosis?
Locked in syndrome
Basilar Artery stroke
Pt presents with pupil constricted and drooping eyelid, their skin around the eye looks very dry
what is the possible diagnosis?
Horner Syndrome
Damage to sympathetic nerves
Pt presents with R sided hearing loss
Dysequilibrium
R sided horner syndrome
R sided Loss of facial sensation and muscles
and decreased salivtory production
L sided pain and temperature sensation missing
What is the possible diagnosis?
(Right side) Lateral Inferior Pontine Syndrome
Stroke of AICA
Pt presents with
R sided paralysis
L sided loss of eye movement w/ dialated pupil
Loss of motor coordination/ Ataxia
And Lability (Inappropriate laughing or crying)
What is the possible diagnosis?
(Left side)
Anteromedial midbrain syndrome
AKA Weber’s syndrome
Blockage of PCA or basilar artery
Pt presents with elevated HR
Lack of balance
Lack of facial sensation
R sided DCML sensation loss
L sided Horner syndrome
Lack of gag reflex
What is a possible diagnosis?
L sided Lateral Medullary Syndrome
AKA Wallenberg syndrome
Stroke to PICA
