MTF Responsibilities for suitability screening process
- Performs the Screening
- Provides a suitability recommendation to the transferring command
BUMED Responsibilities for suitability screening process
- prescribe procedures for screening
- monitor the execution of the system
- determine the cause and fix any deficiencies
when do family members require screening?
- when they will be accompanying the member to their overseas / remote duty station
- member is leaving unaccompanied for more than 24 months
- joining a service member already overseas
Suitability Screening Coordinator Responsibilities
- appointed by the MTF CO
- coordinates the screening process
- performs paperwork review / preliminary screening
- refers to MTF staff for the screenings
- forwards the suitability inquiry to the gaining MTF
- provides recommendation to the transferring command
Suitability screening process (Start to finish)
- member receives orders (begin 30 day clock)
- Transferring command schedules screening
- transferring command conducts a command review
- SSC completes preliminary screening (completes 1300/2)
- MTF staff conduct the screening
- SSC Forwards suitability inquiry to gaining MTF
- gaining MTF assesses local resources and replies within 7 days
- MTF provides recommendation to transferring command on NAVPERS 1300/16
- Transferring command makes determination on NAVPERS 1300/16 part 1 (30 day clock ends)

- Copy of orders
- Demographic info for all family members
- Routine exams, screenings, imms
- hearing and vision exams
- HIV, G6PD, sickle cell
- Blood Type and DNA
- Copies of civilian medical reports
- Current medical history ( DD 2807)
