Responsibilities of the Casualty Assistance Calls Program
- Initial call must be made to family within 24 hours of death
- the CACO helps the NOK with problems surrounding the death
- Provides information on matters such as : SGLI, Personal Affects, Reasonable requests made by NOK.

Current Death Program
- Provides mortuary services, supplies and related services during peacetime
Graves Registration program
- Search, Recovery and evacuation to a temporary cemetery during wartime.
Concurrent Return Program
- Combines current Death Program and Graves Registration Program
- Originates as Graves for search and recovery then switches to current for identification, preparation of remains and shipment.
Return of Remains Program
- Activates with an act of congress to retrieve remains buried in temporary cemeteries and place them in permeant American cemeteries in the overseas area.
Casualties Assistance Calls Program
- The CACP coordinator for the area that the NOK resides in designates an active duty commissioned officer or a well-qualified senior enlisted member to notify the NOK.
- First call within 24 hours of death.
Decedent Affairs Program Objectives
- Immediate Recovery and ID of deceased personnel
- High standards and uniformity in services provided
- Minimum elapsed time between death and delivery of remains to the primary next of kin
- prompt notification of the PNOK concerning maters applicable to the decedent affairs program.

- Metal casket
- 20 total holes 2 inch diameter ( 2 at head and foot, 4 on each lid half, 8 on bottom)
- cover holes with porous materials such as paper or cloth
- casket must weigh 300lbs
- 5 nylon bands 3/4 inch (2 across each half and 1 length wise)
