CO responsibilities to pregnant SM
- Ensure they retains an high degree of commitment to fulfil professional responsibilities
- Not harassed
- no preferential treatment
General limitations of pregnant SM
- Exempt from regular physical activities (PRT 6 months post leave, Group / Command PT)
- no exposure to chemicals or toxins
- standing at parade rest / attention for longer than 15 minutes
- exempt from all routine immz (Except Flu, tDap)
- participation in Weapons training, swim qual, drown proofing, anything dangerous
- ionizing radiation exceeding .5 REM
during the last 3 months of pregnancy (28 weeks) the SM can:
- take a 20 minute break every 4 hours
- limited to a 40 hour work weeks per 7 days
pregnant SM is eligible for overseas transfer if:
- not reached their 28th week
- Adequite OB care at new location
- not placing up for adoption
- new location has housing
pregnant SM is Eligible for Conus Transfer if:
- no flight after the 28th week
IF SM is found pregnant in boot camp then:
- will be removed with out benefits
- can reenlist 4 months post partum
pregnant SM on board a ship
- may serve on ship until their 20th week while in port or for short underways
- Needs to be able to MEDEVAC within 6 hours
- can not return to ship until 12 months post partum
pregnancy within an aviation squadron
- disqualifying for flight duties
- assignment to deployable squadron will be changed to shore squadron after the 20th week
maternity care after separation
- government wont pay for civ care if SM separated while pregnant
- post separation 90 coverage does not cover pre existing conditions such as pregnancy
- SM will receive care for up to 6 weeks post partum in MTF
Requirements for Breast feeding / Pumping
- Clean and not a bathroom
- warm running water within the room for cleaning
- breastfeeding is not justification for longer lunch periods
Responsibilities of the IDC for pregnant SM
- provide written notification to the CO
- provide guidance on work restrictions to SM
- monitor health of SM
- Light duty
Termination of Pregnancy
- unless health of SM is at stake the Government will not pay for termination
- SM will use annual leave if admittance is required
- after care will be managed as any other injury or illness
OC health responsibilities to Pregnant SM
- Develop a list of potential reproductive hazards annually
- provide an occupational reproductive questionnaire
Responsibilities of Pregnant SM
- planning to meet both family and military obligations
- seek confirmation at MTF
- OB Care at local MTF
- notify the CO
- perform duties within her limitations
