This person falls within a continuum of mild to severe, it depends on how many of the criteria that they meet. Failure to perform their major roles or obligations. It impacts their social interactions. They have made an effort to stop and they can’t stop. Increase tolerance where they have to drink more in order to get the same effect. Dependence, if they don’t have to get their substance, they withdraw.

The overarching related to Substance intoxication or withdrawal. Intoxication, currently on the substance. Withdrawal, trying to get off the substance. Know symptoms for the exam. The test could ask about different signs of withdrawal.
