Difficulty learning basic academic skills that should be easy based on their age and IQ. Intelligent child who is unable to learn the way most people learn. Classic is dyslexia or processing disorder. They need to get information in a different way then the traditional way children are taught. More auditory or visual.
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
When considering ADHD, be sure to r/o a typical learning disorder. Symptoms need to be present before the age of 12. They need to have two or more context where the individual has impairment - school, home, and work. Can be diagnosed in adulthood. Difficulties with attention and hyperactivity. Frequent interruptions, can’t focus on a specific task.
