we need to use both the left and right hemispheres of our brain in order to make a good effort. when studying the right notices’ the bigger picture will the left notices’ the finer detail. use colour and drawings (right side) with numbers and key words (left side) when you summarise your work.

  1. MAKE STUDYING A CONSISTENT HABIT - AVOID CRAMMING BEFORE A ASSESSMENT WEEK:
    - Ensure all homework is complete
    - Ensure all books are up to date
    - Routine builds self-discipline
    - Create a study file keep all summaries in 1 place
  2. CREATE A STUDYING ATMOSPHERE:
    - Quite time at home
    - TV is and enormous distraction
    - Ensure that the study area is well ventilated and has sufficient light

what are the strategies to overcoming test anxiety

  1. STOP YOURSELF
    When you have a negative thought, immediately think positive (self-talk). This is called communicating inside your head. interpret these thoughts and let yourself worry about you. once you have realised that you are anxious accept it and try to improve the situation so that you focus on the positive thoughts rather than the negative thoughts.
  2. PLAN YOUR ATTACK
    use these strategies to as alternatives to anxiety. Remember to try each strategy and that you have every thing to gain. once you have found 7 strategies you can rely on them and remember just knowing that you are in control can help you in a test situation.
