understanding how you learn can make your education a better journey of discovery. knowing the best way to learn helps you grasp information easily and you can improve on your results. you may not only have 1 learning style

what are the types of learning styles and describe them
1 - Visual learning style
= learn best by seeing things
= retain info and understand better by seeing a demonstration and using drawings and diagrams
= do well with mind maps
the main characteristics: > prefer using pictures > need quiet study time > fond of reading > memorise by seeing > usually good at spelling > may scribble while they're thinking of something else > prefer to observe > preference for colours and diagrams
2 - Aural learning style
= learning best though hearing info
= like to listen to teacher in class and remember info better from being in class rather than reading on own
= called aural / auditory
= they do well when read aloud their work to themselves, explain concepts to others out loud, listen to lessons they record, or record their own work to listen to again.
the main characteristics: > prefer to read to themselves aloud > talk to themselves aloud > easily distracted > tend to prefer using sound and music > good at explaining > prefer doing oral reports
3 - Kinaesthetic learning style
= learn best by experiencing things through activities, like experiments and movements.
= learns info by handling the actual objects
the main characteristics: > good at sports / other physical activities > can't sit still for too long > don't have good handwriting / spelling skills > enjoy acting > study with loud music > enjoy handling objects > reading tends not be important
4 - Reading and writing learning style
= learn by seeing info as printed words
= like to make summaries / additional notes & will look up info in reference books & dictionaries
the main characteristics: > stay very focused on what they do > do not like to be interrupted > spell really well > 'disappear' into books - when they read, forget about world around them
