Visual Agnosia
A
Inability to recognize familiar objects despite normal function of the eyes and optic tracts

Prosopagnosia
A
- Inability to recognize familiar faces
- Often due to occipito-temporal lobe damage
- Patients can use other senses (such as hearing a familiar voice) to help recognize a person

Ideational Apraxia
A
Inability to perform a purposeful motor act, either automatically or upon command

Anosognosia
A
- Unconscious denial, neglect, or lack of insight/awareness of the presence or severity of one’s paralysis/condition
- Associated with right CVA, as well as mental illnesses and dementia

Asomatognosia
A
- An impairment in body scheme
- A patient may feel that parts of their body are “missing” or have disappeared from corporeal awareness
