FAST
ROSIER - in emergency room
management of ischaemic stroke
aspirin 300mg
thombolysis - present within 4.5 hrs
thrombectomy - present within 6 hrs
management of haemorrhage stroke
anticoagulants
antithrombotics
what is given post stroke/TIA
clopidogrel
if not tolerated:
aspirin + dipyridamole
in terms of AF, when is anticoagulants started and what is started
14 days after
warfarin/direct thrombin inhibitor or factor Xa inhibitor
TIA
acute stroke, symptoms resolve within 24hrs
investigations of TIA
MRI
only do CT if suspect another diagnosis
carotid doppler
management of TIA
immediate:
aspirin 300mg unless bleeding disorder
refer to specialist within 24hrs
