motor - facial muscles
sensory - anterior 2/3 of tongue
parasympathetic - facial glands except parotid gland

splits into 5 different areas:
temporal
zygomatic
buccal 
cervical

A

post-auricular pain
altered taste
increased sensitivity to noise

treat with prednisolone and artificial eye drops
