an autoimmune reaction involving the destruction of beta cells in the pancreas, hindering the production of insulin

development of insulin resistance in that insulin is not properly utilized. pancreas cant produce sufficient levels of insulin, caused by lifestyle issues or genetics
What is the SNS reponse in diabetes?
The more epinephrine and norepinephrine is increased, the more the decrease in secretion of insulin production in pancreas. liver release more glucose into blood stream
Why is cortisol really bad when it comes to diabetes?
cortisol blocks insulin, therefore blood glucose cannot be taken up by the cells,
What do twin studies show with diabetes?
50% concordance for Type I and 100% for Type II, proving that it isnt just obesity it is also genetics
What do stress effects mice with type II diabetes?
When you are diabetic, ur blood sugar stays high. when you have stress, the body absorbs the sugar even slower.
How are diabetes and obesity twin epidemics?
linear correlation between eating patterns and development of Type II diabetes, high fats and high carbs are deadly for diabetes
What type of fats are bad for you?
saturated fats, however all foods that are low in fat have insane carbs

incidence of type II diabetes were much higher in the high burnout workers
What did the women in poverty and type 11 diabetes study prove?
african american women living in poverty are at a greater risk developping type II, individuals with less resources have more stress.
low resources lead to threat of loss, which leads to stresss
What is the social stigma with obesity?
that it is under the persons control, leading to more stress, impacts diabetes management.
