what is the definition of stress?
the non-specific response of the body to any demand made on it
what is positive stress?

what is negative stress?
anxiety emotions heightened too far loss of concentration feeling of apprehension not coping

what were the four stages of stress response according to McGrath?

what are the environmental demands?
involves individual coping with a physical or psychological demand
what is perception of the environment?
the individual makes a judgement about requirements and their ability to deal with them
what is stress response?
once a judgement has been made , the individual feels a reaction
what is the actual behaviour?
the performer completes the skill , behaviour reflects psychological thinking
what is the general adaptation syndrome?
stressor alarm reaction resistance stressor removed homeostasis restored exhaustion stressor maintained = illness
what is the alarm reaction stage?
initial perception of the stressful situation, the autonomic nervous system is activated causing physical symptoms
what is the resistance stage?
when the body attempts to deal with the stressors , if its not removed by reverting to homeostasis , the body with resist sympathetic nerve
what is the exhaustion stage?
the continued presence of stressors will prove too much for the body causing symptoms such as depression , high blood pressure may result in death if not dealt with
what is the definition of the anxiety ?
subject feeling of apprehension and heightened psychological, arousal (feelings) associated with fearries and doubts (thoughts)
