General rules for pesticide storage.
Store pesticides:
1) out of reach of children and animals
2) away from food stores
3) preferably in locked location
4) in container they were purchased in - never decant.
5) in container with legible label
6) container should not leak, dispose of chemicals in damaged containers
7) purchase minimum amount of chemical needed
8) chemicals should be within sell by date, dispose of out of date chemicals
9) store powders above liquids, if liquid leaks into powder it may cause a dangerous chemical reaction.
Storage of quantities of pesticide les than 50 liters
Should be stored in ventilated, lockable steel container in site protected from vandals or thieves. Purpose made containers are available.
Storing more than 200 liters/kg of pesticide.
Should be held in store that is:
1) Away from housing, roads, livestock, watercourses etc.
2) has access to emergency services
3) has stock list
4) has first aid facilities
5) is able to contain spillages
6) has a separate wash room
7) has ventilated cupboards for clothing
Recording stock in storage
Record should include: Name of product Amount in stock Details of use Details of restocking Location in store.
Accurate records records should be kept and updated when new stock arrives or stock is used.
Record sheet should be kept in store and in office for use by emergency services.

Anyone entering chemical store inc. staff, emergency service personnel, inspectors, company representatives.

Damage to environment including leakage into water courses, fires and chemical leaks into air.
Precautions when entering chemical store.
PPE should be worn at all times. (Spray suit, gloves and boots and possible face shield/goggles)
If contamination occurs casualty should be taken to hospital.
