steps for calculating standard deviation
step 1 : calculate the mean for the scores
step 2 : the pps raw scores minus the mean
step 3: now square the results from step 2
step 4 : now add up all the square numbers
step 5: now the result from step 4 needs to be divided by the n-1
step 6: now square root everything
