what percent of people carried out shocks to the highest level
65%, they were fully obedient
what signs of breaking the ethical issue of harm were there?
sweating, seizures, grunting , trembling , digging fingernails in to hands
what ethical issues arose in this study
protection from harm , deception, informed consent , right to withdraw
how much were the pps paid to take part and what could this lead to
£4.50 , this could lead to a kind of demand characteristic to try and do what they think is asked of them from the study - creating results that are not accurate to the real word, therefore not generalisable
research to support this data
Beauvais et al 2012 all pp’s showed similar signs of anxiety and also delivered the shocks tot he maximum level
why does this study have low internal validity
it was shown by ‘Holland’ who said the pp’s were essentially play acting and did not believe the shocks were real , this was then proven by ‘Perry’ who said their behavior was due to demand characteristics
