what is the graph used to display data in statistical infrequency?
a graph of normal distribution
what is meant by statistical infrequency?
for example with IQ anything blow 70 or above 130 is seen as statistically infrequent. anything in the bottom or top 2% is deemed abnormal
what does normal distribution look like?
normal distribution will have the mode median and mean as the same of very close together. the graph will also be symmetrical
what does a positively skewed graph look like?
it can be seen through remembering the right foot. high to low. it will have mode first then median and mean. in a test it would show that most did badly
what does a negatively skewed graph look like?
it can be seen through remembering the left foot. it will have the mean first followed by the median then mode. in a test it would show that most did well
what are the pros of the statistical infrequency definition?
it gives a clear visual representation with the quantitive evidence of data in order to highlight possible abnormalities
what are the cons of the statistical infrequency definition?
there are some desirable characteristics which are rare for example a high IQ which in this definition would be seen as an abnormality.
