Look out for irregular verbs and the ‘have’ auxiliary
E.g. ‘have run’ - irregular verb

Is it third person and singular? E.g. she, it, him
Is the tense on the first verb present?
Exception - ‘was’ - record both -ED and 3S
What are the different forms of the auxiliary ‘be’?
Am, are, is, were, was

Verb, verb e.g. keep thinking
V-part
Verb particle: add-ons in verb phrases with idiomatic meanings e.g. wake up
NEG-V
Negation Verb
Cancels out, negative e.g. never goes
-EST
Superlative - meaning most in an adjective e.g. best, fastest
Subject
Noun phrase preceding the verb
Object
Being done to - undergoes the action expressed in the verb
Acted upon
Gave (ditransitive verb) - needs two objects
Complement
Copula - complement
Performative verbs e.g. name, call, announce
Phrase/word that is necessary to complete the meaning.
Refers back to the subject
Adverbial
Describes the manner in which something is done
Answers where, when, how?

Progressive
Should also be used on adjectives ending in -ing e.g. annoying
‘AUX
Contracted auxiliary verb e.g. they’ve run - they have run
Still record as aux on phrase and APP levels
Remember to record PRON ‘they’ on APP level
