Interviewer: Can you describe your experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver a product?
Me: Absolutely. Collaboration with cross-functional teams has been a key part of my success in product management. One example I’m particularly proud of is the development of IBilling, a flagship product at my company, AICARE99 Inc., which helps healthcare providers streamline their billing processes.
To bring this product to life, I worked closely with development, design, and marketing teams:
With the development team, I started by clearly articulating the product vision and breaking it down into actionable tasks. Together, we prioritized the backlog based on feasibility, business value, and customer needs. At one point, there were technical constraints with integrating client-requested workflows into our existing system templates. I acted as a bridge between the developers and the client, facilitating discussions to find a balanced solution that satisfied both sides while maintaining development timelines.
With the design team, I collaborated to create user-friendly wireframes and prototypes. We incorporated insights from user research and client interviews, iterating on the designs to ensure the final product addressed real pain points and was intuitive to use.
With the marketing team, I worked on crafting the product’s value proposition and aligning on a go-to-market strategy. I supported the creation of promotional materials and onboarding content that resonated with our target audience, helping us achieve strong adoption at launch.
As a result of this collaboration:
We reduced our clients’ accounts receivable days by 33%, improving their financial outcomes.
The product was well-received in the market, leading to the acquisition of 15 new clients across multiple states in the first quarter post-launch.
