What do arteries leading to kidneys carry?
nurtients like natrium etc
Oxygen
Waste products (urea, extra electrolytes)
What happens to the nutrients and part of the oxygen that pass through the kidneys?
They are to be returned to the vein leading out.
Via which blood vessel does blood enter the kidney?
Via the renal artery
What is the smallest unit of the kidney responsible for filtration and collection?
The Nephron
Where can the nephron be found?
In the renal cortex, and can be found in renal medulla (Middle of cortex)where it dips in and out of it.
What is the renal calyx/renal calyces?
Dips that collect urine. Met in the renal pelvis, the central area.
What is the hilium?
The renal artery ,renal vein and uterer. Place where tubes/vessels come of of the kidney
What does the kdiney regulate?
Homeostasis: pH, blood pressure (excreting sodium to decrease pressure), osmolarity and waste.
