Q

What happens to the Rtot when you remove a part of the lower lobe of the lungs?

A

Rtot before = 1/ (1/R + 1/R) –> 1/2/r –> R/2 or 1/2R

Rtot after surgery: Rtot = R, higher resistance

Q

100 g lung tissue with 3L/min on left, and 2L/min on left lung.

A

Lungs weighed, 0,5 kg on one side, 1 kg on the other.
Right: 3000 ml/min /1000 gr = 300 ml/min/100g lungtissue.
Left: 2000 ml/min / 500g = 400 ml/min/100 g.
So, right has more blood flow, but perfusion is higher on the left.
