SS1. Structure of the Liver Flashcards
How many lobules does a liver have?
4
What is the Glisson’s capsukle?
surrounds the 4 lobes of the liver. It’s fibroelastic and tough.
What separates the left & Right lobes?
Falciform ligament.
What is terminal bile duct?
Duct which transforms the secreted bile from the liver.
What is the Sphincter of Oddi?

What do the left & right hepatic ducts form when fused?
The common hepatic duct
Where does the common hepatic duct branch off to?
Cystic duct & pancreatic duct.
Where does the cystic duct lead to?
To the gall bladder
What is the function of the Sphincter of Oddi?
Regulating entry of bile & pancreatic juice into duodenum.
Where does the portal triad consist of?

This vein is nutrient-rich
Portal vein
This vein is oxygen-rich
Proper hepatic artery
This vein is oxygen-poor
hepatic vein
This duct transports bile
Common hepatic duct
Where are portal triads found?
Between hepatic lobules, functional & polyhedral liver units.
