Spinal Cord Flashcards
How are Grey and White matter in the spinal cord different from the brain?
Grey matter is deep to white matter (opposite to the brain)
Where do Afferent neurons enter the Spinal Cord?
Afferent neurons enter the spinal cord on the dorsal side
(towards the back)
Where do Efferent neurons leave the Spinal Cord?
Efferent neurons leave the spinal cord on the ventral side
(towards the front)
What do dorsal and ventral roots combien to form?
Spinal Nerves
What are the Meninges of the Spinal Cord?
Continuous with the meninges of the brain
* Subarachnoid cavity contains CSF
If the ventral root of the spinal is damaged, what effect would this have on the transmission of sensory Information?
if dorsal root is damaged we would lose sensory info, not ventral
