An initio - recruitment medical

- Medicals done by MO at health centres
- same medical as initio
How to serving members apply to change to aircrew and process
In Airforce there need to be an EOI for aircrew. If not then wasting time.
- preliminary medical review - PM101 to proceed
—- can be chart review.
—- review previous encounter properly.
Army - Either EOI or documentation from CMA. Can’t process them without it
Navy - no requirements
Outcome on medical assessment
Class 1 = fit
Class 2 = waiver is required
Class 3 = Pending information as requested by IAM
Class 4 = Unfit
Done by IAM for all services

What a SPEC PHE involves
Same as PHE Preliminary examination - can be 3 months prior - Ht, WT, HR, BP - Snellen VA - Near vision - Urinalysis - Audiogram - Vaccination status

CPHE extras as indicated
- FOBT, Papsmear, Mammogram, HIV, Hep B, Hep C test result only
- G6PD test result only

What is a medical certificate validity
Pilots and other army and navy aircrew is valid for 12months
Airforce Non-pilots = 24 months
Aircraft controller/remote pilots = 24 months
Flexibility some WSOs, FTE are on 12 monthly
Extension can be 60days without SSAMA approval
Common problems to occur to aircrew
Cholesterol Diabetes Blood pressure Kidney disease Wt and nutrition Mental health Smoking, alcohol
Regarding military pilot’s medical certificate validity A it is valid for 12 months B it is valid for 24 months C no extensions are ever possible D it is perpetually valid
