What is required of the AVMO
Medical examinations
72 hours/14 days histories
- ASIT SAVMO role but you may be asked to commence on their behalf
- need to be for all accident aircrew members, all involved maintenance personnel, any individual suspected of being involved
- Form 184 - medical report on an aircraft incident or accident.
- as close to the accident as possible
- sufficient blood and urine
- full spinal imaging as necessary
- other tests as needed
- Liaise with ASIT SAVMO and coroner
- if passed: full body imaging of remains, finger or footprint of remains and assist with autopsy.
Key functions of the AVMO in initial accident response and preparation for ASIT arrival
Situation dependent - follow UEP/AEP Provide emergency are - working with first response team - PPE, training - medical care for those on site - are there injured survivors?
Liaison with civilian medical response
Biological/toxicological samples of survivors
Secure an area for physical examinations and interviews of survivors
Ensure debriefing and follow up protocol
