It has a population of 72.4 million people- means it has a large workforce and a large number of people buying / selling goods.

It included cities such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janerio and Belo Horizonte.
Primary industry
Huge oil reserves off the coast.
Idea climate for farming (warm temp. adequate rainfall and rich soil.)
Large amounts of gold, iron ore, magnese and bauxite or mining.
Fishing is important for many coastal settlements.
Immigrants provide cheap labour.
Fast flowing rivers mean hydroelectric power can be produced cheaply.
Secondary industry
Immigrants create a skilled workforce.
Many industries set up in the 1950s, when the government wanted Brazil to become a NIC.
Contains the most airports and ports
Pipeline for oil and gas.
High population means big workforce.
Raw materials located nearby.
Fast flowing rivers means are a source of cheap hydroelectric power
Tertiary industry
Large population means more people to provide for.
Area receives most government aid, so better schools / hospitals.
Sao Paulo is South America;s largest financial centre.
Quaternary industry
Largest centre of research and development. Sao Josos dos campos is where the Aerospace centre is located (conducts research into outer space studies.)
What is cumulative causation?
The money made in this area of Brazil is helping other areas / Brazil develop further.
Industries include:
Farming - coffee, beef, rice, sugar cane and fruit.
Car manufacturing- Fort, Toyota, Fiat.
Secondary industry- food processing, textiles, furniture, printing, brewing and shoemaking.
