Social impacts

A

Many people were scavenging the streets to find food. This was a problem as your reputation in society is very important to the Japanese, so this was seen as a dent in the Japanese pride.

A

Fukushima. 4/6 of the nuclear reactors was damaged. Higher than normal radiation was recorded in Tokyo (220 km away.)

25 million tons of rubble was swept across Japan. This destroyed habitats and made the clean up effort a lot harder.

Japan has spend millions on building Earthquake proof buildings, which instead of collapsing simply sway (to reduce the amount of rubble)
The movement is educating people on what to do if an Earthquake hits.
All nuclear plants will be tested to try and prevent another nuclear crisis
