1) distressing symptoms
2) distressing thoughts, feelings, behaviors (anxiety)
3) longer than six months
4) whether they are medically explained is irrelevant
illness anxiety disorder
1) no serious symptoms but patient preoccupied with getting/having an illness
2) high level of anxiety about illness
3) at least six months
4) not better explained by other disorder
conversion disorder
1) must have MUS either sensory or motor
2) incompatibility between symptom and recognized condition
3) causes distress and not better explained by another condition
psychological factor affecting medical condition
1) must be MEDICAL condition
2) psychological factors prolong or exacerbate condition or interfere with treatment
factitious disorder
1) falsifying or causing symptoms and lying about it
2) no reward
3) presents for medical attention
4) can be by proxy
other specified somatic symptom and related disorder
1) brief SSD
2) brief IAD
3) IAD without excessive behaviors
unspecified somatic symptoms and related disorder
nothing specific but still has distress
malingering
- not a psychiatric diagnosis
- intentional production of signs or symptoms for reward
- antisocial PD a risk factor
