Somatic Symptom d/o

A

One or more somatic symptoms; at least 1 symptom of excessive thoughts worries about the somatic symptoms(s); although one somatic may not be continuously present, the state of being symptomatic is persistent (typically >6 months); deemed “persistent” if course is characterized by severe symptoms, marked impairment, and long duration (>6 months).

A

Preoccupation with having or acquiring a serious illness without any symptoms, or minimal symptoms; symptoms present for at least 6 months. 2 types: Care-seeking type, Care-Avoidant type.

Conversion d/o (functional neurologic symptom d/o)

A

One or more symptoms of altered voluntary motor or sensory function; specifiers (with weakness or paralysis, with abnormal movements i.e. tremor, with swallowing symptoms, with speech problems,with special sensory symptoms i.e. visual distrubance; ACUTE = sx present for <6 months; PERSISTENT= 6 MONTHS OR MORE; specify w/ or w/o psychological stressor.

A

Medical symptom or condition is present (other than mental d/o); psychological or behavioral factors adversely affect the medical condition; severity may be specified as mild, moderate, severe, extreme (life threatening). NO DURATION

A

NO DURATION; when imposed on another, the perpetrator, not the victim gets the dx; single vs. recurrent episodes.
