Eating/feeding disturbance - apparent lack of interest in eating or food, avoidance based on the sensory characteristics of food; concern about aversive consequences of eating - persistent failure to meet appropriate nutritional and/or energy needs associate with ONE of the following (wt loss, nutritional defic., dependence on enteral feeding, marked interference with psychosocial fxn).

Anorexia Nervosa

A

Restriction of energy intake resulting in significantly low body weight - fear of gaining weight or becoming too fat-disturbance in way in which one’s body weight or shape is experienced; Restricting vs. Binge-eating/purging type. PARTIAL REMISSION = body weight wnl, but criteria B and C still present; FULL REMISSION.

Binge eating + compensatory bx to prevent wt gain (self-induced vomiting, misuse of laxatives/diuretics, fasting, excessive exercise); OCCURS AT LEAST ONCE WEEKLY FOR 3 MONTHS; partial vs. full remission.

Binge-eating disorder

A

Recurrent episodes of eating with a 2 hour period w/ sense of lack of control associated with 3 or more symptoms; marked distress; OCCURS, ON AVERAGE, ONCE WEEKLY FOR 3 MONTHS; Partial remission - binge eating less fx than once weekly for sustained period; full remission, mild/moderate/severe/extreme.
