Anxiety Disorders Flashcards
Separation Anxiety D/O.
At least 3 separation symptoms that persist at least 4 weeks in children and adolescents and typically 6 months or more in adults.
Selective Mutism
Consistent failure to speak for at least 1 month (not limited to the first month of school).
Specific Phobia
Persistent fear/anxiety/ avoidance of object or situation for at least 6 months or more;
Social Anxiety d/o (social phobia)
The fear or anxiety is persistent, last for at least 6 months or more; may be specified as “performance only” if restricted to speaking or performing in public.
Panic D/O
4 or more panic symptoms; attack followed by 1 month or more of avoiding/worrying about another attack
Agoraphobia
Marked fear about at least 2/5 situations; lasting for at least 6 months typically;
Generalized Anxiety D/O
Excessive anxiety and worry occurring more days that not for at least 6 months about a number of events or activities (work, school performance); w/ 3 or more anxiety symptoms.
Substance/medication-induced anxiety disorder
Panic attacks or anxiety is predominant in the clinical picture w/ evidence that is is related to substance use (including caffeine); this dx should be made instead of dx of substance intoxication or substance w/d only when the symptoms predominate in the clinical picture and warrant clinical attention.
Anxiety disorder due to another medical condition.
Panic attacks or anxiety predominate with evidence of connection to medical condition (i.e. pheochromocytoma).
