A

Female participants could now compete aggressively in sports specific clothing so a sign the status of women in sport improving in contrast to Victorian Britain in the 19th century with more opportunities for female participation. However still fewer opportunities or women in sport and some discrimination - women could only compete in fewer and different athletic events to men in the olympics for example.
