Bystander apathy
The more people who are around you when you need help, the less likely you are to revive help
Diffusion of reponsibility
The tendency to feel less responsible to help when there are other people around
Pluralistic ignorance
The group does nothing because they assume someone else knows more
Social loafing
People tend to exert less effort when working in a group
Self fulfilling prophecy
A false belief that leads to its own fulfillment
SFP steps
1 - perceived develops false expectation
2 - perceiver treats target in a manner consistent with false expectation
3 - target responds to this treatment in such a way as to confirm the false belief
Contact theory
If hostile groups work towards a common goal there will be peace reached
Attribution theory
Internal vs external attributions given to a person
Fundamental attribution error
The tendency to make an internal attribution for someone even with evidence of the contrary
Actor observer effect
The tendency to attribute your own wrong behavior to external attributions but strangersbehavior to internal attributions
Self serving bias
You are more likely to take credit for a good outcome than a bad one
