Social cues Flashcards
Occipital lobe
Analysis of facial features
Ventral pathway
Fusiform gyrus, fusiform face area and inferior temporal cortex.
Discriminating faces from objects and link episodic and semantic memories in the hippo and ATL (base for face recog)
Dorsal pathway
Superior temporal sulcus processes dynamic features. Relayed to amygdala to analyse,
multisensory areas for mouth moving with speech and parietal lobe to see spatial direction of the gaze.
Parallel interaction of the streams
Both pathways interact and feed back into earlier stages to acquire more detail as needed
Superior temporal sulcus
Has lot of connections with other parts of the brain.
Parietal: direct attention in response to observed gaze
Amygda and limbic: Recognizing emotions
Multisensory: integrating lip movement with speech
