The source-filter model
A
- Air expelled from lungs (diaphragm and chest)
- Narrowed through vocal cords in the larynx. Causes increase of air speed/pressure (Bernoulli’s principle) which cases vibration: voiced tonal sounds)
- Resonating body above vocal cords shapes and filters the power.

Produced from oscillations in vocal cords. Nucleus of syllable, tonal quality
