A

Migration towards northern industrial towns disturbing traditional habits and customs in the small rural communities.
Some rural areas were transformed into industrial landscapes large smoking chimneys and blast furnaces creating a alien skyline

Conditons in towns governments inability to see problems

A

1812-1832 conditions in industrial towns were worsened and grew out of control due to governments inability to recognise these problems and address them unfamiliar territory when expanding towns occurred problems of public health and maintains health had no mechanisms to deal with them. Wealthy middle class in leafy suburbs and craftsmen and traders in terraced houses vast majority loved in overcrowded tenant dwellings, entire families in one room, few basic facilities lacking sanitation , limited water supply allowing disease to spread.

A

Urbanisation many old boroughs had either declined or expanded into large industrial towns ,ms till run by mayor and corporation these bodies could be corrupt largely acted in self interest did little to introduce improvement

Working conditons and inability to improve

A

Detrimental to health - enclosed in factory with little ventilation for 16 hours a day for little pay absence of safety regulations meant high amount of accidents, lack of education disadvantaged further, education considered for the upper classes, Sunday schools existed but no obligation to attend for those who couldn’t find jobs or lost jobs due to illness, injuries or disability or old age had been stuck on poor relief. Unable to cope with large amount of urbanisation would turn to crime initially for rural areas couldn’t cope with industrial towns.

Positive impacts of industrialisation

A
Greater wealth was created and a larger population sustained new middle class emerged , entrepreneurs , industrialists, merchants etc argued caused a rise in standard of living 
Facilitated growth of trade unions large number of men working together in a small space discuss options on poor working condition etc
