What us PAR-Q?
A self-screening tool that can be used by anyone who is planning to start an exercise or training routine
What are the 6 goals of the warm up?
Prepare muscles Prepare joints Prepare the mind Prevent injury Prepare ligaments Prepare the cardiovascular system
What are the stages of the warmup?
Cardiovascular phase, stretching phase, sport specific phase
What does the cardiovascular phase contain?
Gradually increase heart rate to the working heart rate

Used to prepare psychologically
What does the stretching phase contain?
2 main types of stretching: static and dynamic
Use dynamic: stretches that use movement specific to the sport, gradually increasing your reach and speed
What does the sport specific phase contain?
Practice the skills of the activity
What are the goals of a cool down?
Return heart rate to its resting level.
5-10 mins jogging
10-15mins stretching
Why do we set goals?
To motivate and give someone something to work towards

SMART - specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time bound
