What is a macronuetrient?
They are nutrients that need to be consumed in large quantaties
What are carbohydrates?
Complex - long chain carbohydrates that break down over time
Simple - shorter chain carbohydrates which can be found naturally in fruit
What is carboloading?
It is where athletes will load up on carbs before a race to be properly energized
What are fats?
They provide energy
They should be 30% of our diet
There are unsaturated and saturated fats
What are proteins?
Used to repair the body and strengthen muscles after muscular hypertrophy
What are micro nuetrients?
Nuetrients that are required in small quantities
What are vitamins and minerals?
Substances required for us to function properly - iron is needed for blood
What is fibre?
Fibre keeps the bowels healthy and aids in peristalsis
