What is concussion?
Concussion is when you take a blow to the head
Symptoms: confusion, headache, loss of coordination or balance, slurred speech
What are fractures?
Fractures are when the bones brake
There are 4 main types of fracture:
- closed
- compound fracture
- simple
- stress
What are dislocations?
This is where a joint is moved from is regular position
Symptoms - deformed, locked out of normal position
What is torn cartilage?
Cartilage is a shock absorber and stops your bones rubbing together. This injury usually happens due to long term overuse
What is a sprain?
This is where a joint has gone past its range of movement and torn or damaged the ligaments. This can happed if an ankle is rolled.
What are soft tissue injuries?
They are when joints move past the range of movement meaning ligaments and tendons can tear or pull
What are strains?
A strain is a twist, pull or tear of a muscle or a tendon
Most common are hamstring and back
What are abrasions?
They are when there is friction between the skin and a rough surface
What does RICE stand for?
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation
What is golfers elbow?
Type of strain that effects muscles in the elbow
