PAR-Q
A self-screening tool that can be used by anyone who is planning to start an exercise or training routine.
6 goals of a warm up
Pulse raiser. Eg- jogging and skipping. Slowly increases heart rate and body temperature.
Mobility. Eg-arm swing and hip circles.
Dynamic movement. Eg-shuttle runs.
Stretching. Eg-groin walk and open and close the gate.
Skill rehearsal. Eg-passing drills for football.
Moving multiple muscles to loosen the joints.
Stages of a warm up
general warm up;
Static stretching;
The sports specific warm up; and.
Dynamic stretching
Goal of a cool down
The overarching goal of a cool-down is to reduce heart and breathing rates, gradually cool body temperature, return muscles to their optimal length-tension relationships, prevent venous pooling of blood in the lower extremities, which may cause dizziness or possible fainting.
Why do we set goals?
Setting goals gives you long-term vision and short-term motivation .
How do we set goals?
First consider what you want to achieve, and then commit to it. Set SMART (specific, measureable, attainable, relevant and time-bound) goals that motivate you.
